Ice, Ice, Baby

Is ice only made from water? Explain your thinking.

  1. Ice doesn't only have to be made from water. For example, there is dry ice, which is made from gases

  2. I think ice is only made for water because the only way to make ice is water and freezing tempeatures. Unless it's dry ice that's all you8 need.

    ReplyDelete
  3. No,ice is not only water. Nitrogen can also be frozen, which is called dry ice.Pretty much any liquid can be frozen to form a soild, though some of the freezing tempatures are very extreme.

    ReplyDelete
  4. i think that that ice can be made up of many different types of liquids. like u can freeze soda, and other stuff too!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ice can be made out of many other things besides water. Basically any element that has a liquid state has a solid (ice) state.

    ReplyDelete
  6. ice is not only made of wate because it is also made of oxygen. it can hold different types of life but yes it is mostley made of water.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think ice can be made from gas too because comets are part ice and they can't be made out of water because then they'll melt.

Ice is not made up ony of water, because there are other forms of ice that are made up of many different forms. Dry ice for example is frozen nitrogen, NOT water.

    ReplyDelete
  9. no because dry ice is made of nitrogen

    ReplyDelete
  10. No I don't think it's made out of just water because if you freeze different things then would can get ice.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No, I don't think ice can only be made out of water. I think that, technically, ice can be any frozen liquid.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No, because ice is basically any frozen liquid.

ice is not only made from water because there is dry ice, and frozen nitrogen.

    ReplyDelete
  14. No ice can be made of co2 or more.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think ice isnt just frozen water because there are chemicals everywhere in the air that gets to the water somehow like carbon dioxide or somthing else

    ReplyDelete
  16. i think ice can be made out of any liquid as long as it is frozen

    ReplyDelete
  17. No, because dry ice has something else in it besides water.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ice that you get out of your refrigerarotor is just plain, frozen water. But you can freeze any liquid into an ice cube. (Popsicles,, lemonade, etc). Dry ice is made from nitrogen, though.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think that ice made out of water isn't the only form of ice because ice can be made out of any liquid like soda and juice. There is also dry ice which isn't made up of water.

    ReplyDelete
  20. no, ice can made out of ohter substances than water, because dry ice is made of gases, and for instance, you could freeze like juice and it would still be considered ice.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ice is almost all made of water becouse you have to freez the water to be able to have ice.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ice is made up of just water if the water frezes it still water it might be made of milearils because where the water is and then has to be fiter

    ReplyDelete
  23. no ice can be made from anything liquid because i remember when i was youger that i would make ice pops out of kool-aid

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ice naturally is mostly made of water. But, due to things like Dry Ice I'd have to say no.

    ReplyDelete
  25. no ice is not only water because theres a moon of saturn and its all ice but under the ice is gases

    ReplyDelete
  26. i think that ice is only made from water because of the freezing temperatures unless you are talking about dry ice which is completely differently. L8R!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. i think ice is only made from water. i know that there is dry ice, but that's just gas and that is water in a different form.

    ReplyDelete
  28. ice can only be made from water. for people who before had said you can freeze other substances like soda, only the water in the soda becomes ice. dry ice is just frozen liquid nitrogen, it is called dry ice because it looks like ice but isn't made from water - hence the dry-

    ReplyDelete
  29. no, ice doesn't have to be made out of water. if ice is cold enough it can become ice to.

no i think ice is not always made out of ice because u have dry ice and dry ice is made out of fozen carbon dioxide so all ice isnt made out of water

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ice is made of water because it is normaly formed by water being freezed and made into a solid, not a liquid. In order for it to freeze it would probably needs to be in the negatives or to only 15 degrees.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ice is made of water because when water is frozen it turns into a solid. THe tempature that is probably needed is in the negatives or up to 15 degrees.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It might be made of diffrent elements!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Let me think...HMmmmmmmmm...

i know, i think no because you can make ice out of other liquids

    ReplyDelete
  35. I dont think that ALL ice is made out of water because ices like dry ice are made from gases.

    ReplyDelete
  36. i think ice can be made out of any liquide as long as it is in a solid form (ice) so yaa :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. i think all ice is water because, ice is the solid form of water.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ice isn't only made water, like dry ice is made out of gases, ice could be any frozen substance

    ReplyDelete
  39. Okay so like ice isn't only water because every substance has a freezing temperature and like Popsicle and stuff aren't water so therefore not all ice is water.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ice belivie that ice can be made out of any frozen liquid.Ice is basicly fozen liquid that is now a solid, because cold temp`s have slowed the movements of the molecules

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think ice is both not made of water but it is.
For example, some planets have frozon gases, and you can also freeze any type of liquid such as soda. Then again the ice we all refer to is mostle made of H2O which is 2 molecules of hydrogen and 1 molecule of oxygen. Also dry ice is completely different from regular ice. It is made of gases. So yes ice is made of water and temperatures of atleast 32 degrees Fareinheit or 0 degeees Celsious.

    ReplyDelete
  42. NO WAY!!! You would normally think of ice as frozen water. Actualy, almost any liquid, and even gas can be turned into a liquid. This happens by slowing down the particles enough to get them to stick together, and compress themselves into something like ice, only made of a different particle, other than water

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think that ice is only made of water because ice is water in its solid state. if it were made of some other liquid it would have a different name such as water to ice as nitrogen to dry ice. see definition 1. on http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ice?o=100074
the SOLID form of WATER. theres an exception for frozen salt water because technically it is still a type of water.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think ice does not have to be only water. You can freeze other liquids into a solid. Also dry ice is made out of a gas.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think ice can be made out of any liguid

    ReplyDelete
  46. ice is not always made of water it can be made of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and many others

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think that only water can become ice because all other liquids have water in them so the water freezes, not the substance that's mixed with the water.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ice is only made of liquids.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ice isnt only water it is also made up of different gases

    ReplyDelete
  50. ice is not always made of water dried ice is made of carbon dioxide and ice can be made of other minerals

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yes, because if it was made of anything else, they would call it something other than "Ice," I mean solid Nitrogen needs a better name than just "Ice!" Come on! Who's with me!?!

    ReplyDelete
  52. yes because ice is frozen water

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think ice can be made with almost any liquid like liquid nitrogen can freeze and make "ice".

    ReplyDelete
  54. no because only ice is made nitroge

    ReplyDelete
  55. ice isnt only made from water it can also be made from gases just like dry ice is!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. no ice can be made out of any tapy of liqued

    ReplyDelete
  57. i think ice can be made of many liquids. because at a and w rootbeer if you get their rootbeer with the frozen cup it begins to freeze (the rootbeer) :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think that ice can be made out of any liquid. It can also be made out of sertain gases such as the substances of dry ice.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well ice can be made of many liquids. Actually every liquid can be made into ice.

    ReplyDelete
  60. No, ice is not only made out of water because there is dry ice and thats not water. So no ice is not only made out of water. Also, ice is made out of many othere liquids.

    ReplyDelete
  61. ice is not just made of water is made of many thing

    ReplyDelete
  62. No, ice can be made from any type of liquid. Think about popsycles. Basically it is just frozen juice. Just freeze any liquid to make ice.

    ReplyDelete
  63. because water can freeze to ice plus other liquids can turn into ice too but solids and gases cant turn into ice

    ReplyDelete
  64. No ice is not only made out of water because there is dry iceand that's not water.

    ReplyDelete
  65. i think ice can change into some water

    ReplyDelete
  66. no! it can also be made of rock and dust

    ReplyDelete
  67. *!!!!!CHEYENNE $MITH!!!!!* 1May 18, 2010 at 9:59 AM

i think ice has little water and also other gases and stuff.........

    ReplyDelete
  68. No, you can make any frozen liquid turn into a solid so that it can make ice like a popcicle.

    ReplyDelete
  69. yes because you can freze other liquids

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ice can be made of many many liquids besides water just through freezing but the base of most all liquids is water, (most liquids are partly made of water.)

    ReplyDelete
  71. No ice is not only made of warter .For example dry ice is made up of nitrogen .

    ReplyDelete
  72. "Ice" I think is referring to something frozen such as frozen nitrogen or water. Juice is also frozen to make popsicles and juices aren't made from only water so no, ice is not only frozen water.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ice is made of more than just water. It is made up of water(h2o) and Hydrogen(H).

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ice is made only of water. Except for dry ice which is made of gases.

    ReplyDelete
  75. no becouse water can be frozen and maybe nitrogen

    ReplyDelete
  76. i think ice is only made from water but it can have other things frozen inside the ice.

    ReplyDelete
  77. no becuse hydrogen can make ice

    ReplyDelete
  78. i think it is made of only water because....... that is what bill nye(?) said.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Ice Doesnt Have To be Made Out Of Ice,For Example Dry Ice Is Made Out Of Gases

    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't think ice can only be made from water, it can also be made from gases- dry ice. But I don't think it can be made from any other things.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ice is not made of nitrogen because if it was it would be a gas not a liquid DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    ReplyDelete
  82. no because ice is and liquid frozen into a solid
    EX. water,gasoline (i thhink),soda,applejuice,koolaid,gatorade,and alchahol

    ReplyDelete
  83. Ice can only be made by water because ice is just solified water. Ex:liquid to solid

    ReplyDelete
  84. D@n!3ll3 of danielleMay 18, 2010 at 11:57 AM

Ice is not only made from water because if u dry the ice up it is made of gas and even if u smell the ice even smells like gas. ITS NOT LIKE I SMELL THE ICE.........................................................................THIS IS A UNANSWERED QUESTIN....DUH..DUH..DUH...

    ReplyDelete
  85. No,ice is not only water. Nitrogen can also be frozen, which is called dry ice.Pretty much any liquid can be frozen to form a soild, though some of the freezing tempatures are very extreme. I also think gases can be frozen.

    ReplyDelete
  86. $$$$$ @$hToN 3 $$$$$May 18, 2010 at 11:59 AM

I think ice can be made with most liquids and some gases if u can freeze it.

    ReplyDelete
  87. i think that ice can be made out of more than one thing because there is dri ice that is made out of cerbone dioxid so that proves that ice can be made from more than one thing.

    ReplyDelete
  88. no it isnt because ice is white so it means that there is air in the ice

    ReplyDelete
  89. ice is not only made from water it kind of depends what you classify ice as if it's classified as only from water then yes but you can freeze any liquid soda, lemonade, and any other liquid can be frozen

    ReplyDelete
  90. I think ice can be made of things other than water because dry ice is made from gases.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Ice can only be made out of water. Other liquids can freeze, but only water can actually be called 'ice'.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think ice can be made from almost every liquid because thats how ice pops are made;frozen fruit juice.

    ReplyDelete
  93. ice is also made out of carbon dioxeide or other liquids,

    ReplyDelete
  94. ice is not only made from water, it can be made from many liquids and there is dry ice, made from gasses.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I think ice can be made of water or carbon dioxide (dry ice). Ice can also be mixed with other things but basic ice is (I think) only water or carbon dioxide.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Ice can be made of things beside water. Dry ice is a good example of that.I think it can be made by most liquids.

    ReplyDelete
  97. no there is dry ice from gases

    ReplyDelete
  98. I think that ice can be made from more than water such as dry ice which is made from gases and soda which you can make into a popsicle once it is ice

    ReplyDelete
  99. I think that ice can be made out of almost any liquid because i made ice out of orange juice before

    ReplyDelete
  100. ice...something that is cold.. ice is made out of water that has been frozen for a long time..like ice cubes u put in tea its first form water that was frozen into a solid, edventualy it melts when its is put in worm or hot tempetures..
    XD

    ReplyDelete
  101. no it is not made up of only water..their is air in it..?i think it is not only water u can make it out of soda pop..and that is how thay make frozen fruit juice and other frozen things so it is not only water...

    ReplyDelete
  102. I think that depending on the type of ice, it can be made from gases or liquids.

    ReplyDelete
  103. no it could be nitrogen or dry ice

    ReplyDelete
  104. no ice can also be made from gassess for example u dry ice

    ReplyDelete
  105. No, because dry is a type of frozen water mixed with hydrogen.

    ReplyDelete
  106. NO ICE CAN ALSO BE MADE FROM GASSESS FOR
    DRY ICE

    ReplyDelete
  107. Yes and no, because you can freeze any liquid, but most liquids have water in them.

    ReplyDelete
  108. ice can also be made by hyrogen to create dry ice

    ReplyDelete
  109. I believe ice could be more than just water. Ice can freeze around other liquids, gases, and more.

    ReplyDelete
  110. no ice can be made from other resources. For example, dry ice is made from gases and also when comets come into the sky there is ice that makes up part of it.
