BLOG 4: What's up with the sky?

Why might an atmosphere be important to a species?

116 comments:

  1. a atmosphere is important because, it protects organisms from radiation

    ReplyDelete
  2. If they like to see stars then they wouldn't need very much atmosphere. If they can't live with radiation the atmosphere protects them. Inside it there are the important gases. A planet with no atmosphere would have a lot of radiation from our sun. It would look... not like earth

    ReplyDelete
  3. A planet with an atmosphere protects the inhabitants from radiation. A planet with no atmosphere would be a hot and uninhabited

    ReplyDelete
  4. They will burn up because of the UV rays and a planet with no atmosphere would have no clouds! :(

    ReplyDelete
  5. A atmosphere is very important to species. Some species need atmosphere for air and protection from heat rays radation and meteors and meterites. A species that does not have a atmosphere is like you can see space and their might be alot of cretors or it might be really hot or really cold.

    ReplyDelete
  6. A planet with no atmosphere would be really hot and a planet with no atmoshere would have no clouds!

    ReplyDelete
  7. An atmosphere's job is to keep the planet from getting too hot. Without a atmosphere a planet would be all burned up.There wouldn't be any species living on Earth because no one would be able to survive the heat.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The species Might need to breath the atmosphere and need it to survive. A planet with no atmosphere might look like a planet the Akona would need to live on.

    ReplyDelete
  9. An atmosphere is important to an alien species because if the atmosphere of a world is too thick or too thin then the alien might recieve radiation from the sun which would cause them to die. Also an atmosphere blocks out gases and you never know.... an alien just might need that gas in order to live so you can see ow an atmosphere is important to an alien species. A planet with no atmosphere would look very clear. For example one of the alien's likes to study the stars so they would need a world with no atmosphere so that the view would be very clear and nothing that makes up the atmosphere would obstruct their view.

  10. An atmosphere is important to a species because an atmosphere is basically apart of what gives them life (oxygen ect.) I think a planet with no atmosphere would have no living species.

So it could protect them from something. The sclari hate light the atmosphere protects them from light. A Planet with no atmosphere will be covered in craters.

    ReplyDelete
  12. An atmospere is important to a species because it may require oxygen, and growing, living plants. A planet with no atmospere may look like the moon: Lots and lots of craters.

    ReplyDelete
  13. it is importent so animals can breath the right gases to live. a planet with no atmosphere would have no life and there would be craters.

    ReplyDelete
  14. An atmosphere might be important to a species because of their needs and how they live. They might need certain types of elements that they need to survive, so they need that in their atmosphere. I think a planet with no atmosphere would look strange, and it would be very hot because the atmosphere cannot block out the harmful rays of the sun. I also think it would have a black sky because you would be able to see space and the stars all the time.

a planet without a atmosphere might have a lot of craters because there is no atmospher the things that enter dont burn up they just hit the planet also the sky would be all black.having no atmosphere would affect the species by having a non consistant temprature and solar flares could possibly kiil out the species

    ReplyDelete
  16. An atmosphere can be important to a species because maybe that species needs an element in the atmosphere to survive. A planet with no atmosphere would look like a black sky because you would be able to see space, such as the moon.

    ReplyDelete
  17. A atmosphere would be important to a species because an atmospher protects the planet from radiation if you live on a planet close to the sun. If there is no atmosphere the radiation would distroy the planet. It would look like smoke in the black in the air, everything would die, some species cant stand hot weather so they could die, and nothing could be produced to live because they cant go out because everything is dying.

    ReplyDelete
  18. may be the species might need something in the atmosphere

    ReplyDelete
  19. An atmosphere is important to some species because they may need oxygen which comes from plants, so if the atmopsphere doesn't have oxygen the species will die out. If a world had no atmosphere the sky would be the color black because if there was no atmosphere you could just see the solar system and there would be alot of craters because there is no atmosphere off meteors.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Why might an atmosphere be important to a species?
Because some species cant live with a atmosphere, some consist of an atmosphere.
What would a planet with no atmosphere look like?
The planet wouldnt be "black" the sky would be black. Obviously no planets are completly black on the outside, but that doesnt mean there not black on the inside.

    ReplyDelete
  21. it will protect the planet from the craters and burn in the atmosphere.a planet with no atmoshere the surface will be kinda black because you ca see the stars, comets, and other galaxies.

    ReplyDelete
  22. some thing like venus and its important so we can breath

    ReplyDelete
  23. An atmosphere is important to a speices because if the planet is an inner planet, the rays of the sun would make the planet really hot. The planet probaly would be damaged for craters and other objects hitting it with no protection from the atmosphere

    ReplyDelete
  24. The atmosphere might be important to speciec because it may use it to protect its food from rariation. They might need it because some might need it to breath. A planet with no atmosphere would have craters all over the planet and the sky would be black.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well some speciese might only see in day better than night. and a planet with out an atmosphere might have a dark surface.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It is important to a species so it will contain gases for it to breathe. Also It might need to deflect the suns strong rays. A planet without an atomosphere would have many craters because the atmosphere will not be able to burn up meteors.

    ReplyDelete
  27. it is important because some organisms need certain gases and without an atmosphere, certain creatures may not be able to survive on that planet. A planet without a atmosphere would have all night and many visible stars would cover the sky.

    ReplyDelete
  28. its imprtant because it stops metroids comets and astroids. it also put the color blue in our sky. also it has oxygen whitch helps us breath. a place with no atmosphere would have craters all over their land. and the sky would be pitch black. but you could see stars in the sky everyday because there is no atmoshpere whitch will have no color.

    ReplyDelete
  29. an atmosphere might be important to a species because they might need oxygen and they might need protection from heat rays of the sun.a world with no atmosphere would have no life.

    ReplyDelete
  30. A atmosphere might be important to a spices beacuse it could protect the spices foodd from the sun. It might also keep the U.V out of the planet to protect the spices. It could keep the right gasses in the planet for the spices to breath. Without any atmosphere there would be lots of craters because there is nothing from keeping the metorie or whatever object from hiting the planet.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Andrew the hippie juggler's intern's ascociateMay 12, 2011 at 1:30 PM

There would be no sky eccept for total black. It would also fluxuate temperature wise dramaticly. Finaly meteors would fall right down and impact the surface.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think an atmosphere is important to many types of species INCLUDING humans!! :) Some atmospheres keep out harmful rays from sun, also they provide Carbon dioxide, which plants use to breath and then give out oxygen.

    ReplyDelete
  33. First, the atmosphere might be important to their plants say they can't produce the gas they breathe in with the gas the PLANTS inhale like how plants on Earth make oxygen out of fixed nitrogen. Second, the sky would look black, making it easier to study the sky and stars. See, Earth's atmosphere keeps in oxygen which makes the sky blue, and without it, A. we could die, and B. it would look kind of like night time 24/7

    ReplyDelete
  34. it might be important to a species because thay might need oxygen and they might need heat rays from the sun.a planet with no atmosphere is no life

    ReplyDelete
  35. An atmosphere can be important to a species because if there was no atmosphere, they would most likely not be alive. They can die without an atmophere for numerous reasons. They get hit with harmful rays from the sun like u.v.c. They will get hit with meteoroids and create more creaters. This can harm them and/or their habitat. The atmoshere keeps in the gases we breath, so without it we can't be here. On earth, our sky is light blue in the day time because of the atmosphere. Without it, a planet will be lifeless and full of creators.

    ReplyDelete
  36. it keeps gases that is importent for animals to breath and keep them alive

    ReplyDelete
  37. The atmosphere might be important for a specie, because the gases it contains might help them stay alive, &/or create things they need to survive. A planet with NO atmophere, might show off (look like) its real color.

    ReplyDelete
  38. To protect them from any projectiles like metors or harmful radeation and uv rays dpending on what spcies they are

    ReplyDelete
  39. An atmosphere s important because it protects the planet form harmful rays from the sun. Also all the craters would leave holes.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The atmoshere is similar to a shield. It keeps the good things in and the bad things out. A planet without a atmospere would look almost beaten up.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The atmosphere is important because it provides the animals with the right gasses to live and breathe. Also, it protects the planet from meteorites and other objects from space that could damage the planet. A planet without an atmosphere would be covered in craters because the atmosphere couldn't protect the planet. Also, the planet would have very little to no life.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The atmosphere provides the gases that a certain species needs to survive. It also makes harder for things like meteors fall to Earth.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The atmosphere is important so the organisms can take in the right kind of gases. Without an atmosphere there would not be much life on the planet.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It is important to have a atmosphere because a atmosphere holds what a species needs to breath or eat.the surface of a plant would be very rocky and dry with crater's.

    ReplyDelete
  45. An atmosphere is important to to a species so that the species have gases to breathe in and to protect it from a star's harmful UV rays. A planet with no atmosphere would have a sky that is always only stars.

    ReplyDelete
  46. if the species needs certain gases that could be important. Or they could need it to stop meteors from hitting the planet.the atmosphere would burn up most of the meteors.A planet with no atmosphere would have a lot of craters from meteors

    ReplyDelete
  47. It is important to have an atmosphere because the it protects the planet from UV rays. Also, you need certain gases to breath. If a planet had no atmosphere it would have no life forms.

    ReplyDelete
  48. An atmosphere is important to some species because it can protect them and the planet from meteors and radiation, along with trapping in heat and blocking off the rest. Atmoshere also conains the air needed to breathe. An atmosphereless planet would look very clear, with a black sky on the surface.

    WHOOHOO.

    AGAIN.

    TEEHEE.

    AGAIN.

    ReplyDelete
  49. An atmosphere is important to a species because it provides protection from the sun and its harmful UV rays and meteors. The atmosphere also provides certain gases- without these gases, some life forms wouldn't be able to breathe and/or live.
Earth would look something similar to the moon- full of craters, rocky, no vegetation, and basically like a giant rock with craters from meteors.

    ReplyDelete
  50. an atmosphere can change the look of a planet from the ground to the sky. Plus it can help certain species breath. without an atmosphere, a planet would look like the moon. Hard, rocky, and full of craters.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It is important to have an atmosphere so the species has air and is shielded from meteorites.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think a planet needs an atmosphere so that the species has the right gases to live that are kept in from the atmosphere. I also think the atmosphere can protect the species from harmful rays. I think a planet with no atmosphere would have lots of craters.

    ReplyDelete
  53. An atmosphere protects the inhabitants of the planet from the rays of the sun. From a surface view a planet without an atmosphere would look black because space is black. Our atmosphere gives us the blue sky we see today. So basically an atmosphere is important because it protects the inhabitants.

    ReplyDelete
  54. An atmosphere might be important because some animals & plants need certain gases to survive, and if an atmoshpere doesn't have the right gases certain species wouldn't be able to survive. Also it would protect the inhabitants of the planet from some meteors.A planet without an atmoshpere would have a very clear view of the stars, have lots of craters, & pretty much NO LIFE.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Atmospheres can be a key need of a species or be completely unneeded. A reason a species probably need an atmosphere is to breathe, protect itself and it's food from radiation, ect. When you look at a species like the acona though, it has all it needs without an atmosphere and actually prefers not to have one so it can view stars more clearly. A place without an atmosphere however usually is very cratered and rocky.

    ReplyDelete
  56. with no atmosphere the planet isn't as protected. it is more dangered of being hit by meters and they get craters.

    ReplyDelete
  57. An Atmosphere is very important to a planet because if were to live on a planet with no atmosphere you could not breathe because there would be no air, Carbon dioxide or anything. If you were on a planet with no atmosphere you would be able to look at the stars all the time. Your atmosphere has to contain the elements and material that you need to survive.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well, if they need protection from UV rays just like us, a force field will be there to help. Also, it can act like a container and trap all important gases inside, like oxygen. A planet with no atmosphere from space will be very clear and have many craters, be if it does have an atmosphere, it will be very gasey looking and be hard to see the specifics of the planet, looking kinda "smudged".

    ReplyDelete
  59. because it protects the planets food and the species itself from the suns radiation. The planet with no atmosphere would have a lot of craters and no one would be living there.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i think that it is imporant because, a)if an alien can breath in a element and the planet they are going too has it they will die.B) the atmosphere can protect us from the suns rays. thats why i think this.

    ReplyDelete
  61. An atmosphere is important to some species since it protect them from dangerous gases and object that enter the planets gravity. It can also give them air from keeping it in the planets atmosphere.

    ReplyDelete
  62. because without a atmosphere some spiecies cant breath

    ReplyDelete
  63. because if there planet is close enough to the sun it will burn up but with a atmosphere in will decrese the amount of radation! :}

    ReplyDelete
  64. becuase the astroids could come through to the planet that is what cause craters and if the they need oxygen to breath

    ReplyDelete
  65. Because the air that you breathe and the clouds you see in the sky are part of the earths atomsphere. And without the Earths Atomshere every living species on earth would DIE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Atmosphere coming to rescue us! :)

To us humans it protects us form meteorites, gives us oxygen, makes the so BEAUTIFUL!

    ReplyDelete
  67. IT might have elements that a certain species needs to live.It might need a thick or thin atmosphere for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  68. b/c they might need a habitat and food to have.if they don't have these they can die.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The atmosphere could have poisonus elements in it that could kill the aliens. Also the Wroft live in the atmosphere if there is no atmosphere they could not live there.

    ReplyDelete
  70. maby thier skin is really sensitive and they cant get burned or sompthin like thattt

    ReplyDelete
  71. so that a living organism could breath

    ReplyDelete
  72. Because the atmosphere keeps everyone on the surface from from getting hit by a huge asteroid that is coming straight at them, the atmosphere will block it and it wont be able to go into the core

    ReplyDelete
  73. An atmosphere can be important because the Silcary has a certain food that needs. a thin atmocphere

    ReplyDelete
  74. So it can block craters from hiting that planet

    ReplyDelete
  75. An atmosphere might be important to a species because it might protest food or them from radiation.

    ReplyDelete
  76. David5 and Arvind5May 16, 2011 at 1:08 PM

An atmosphere provides oxygen or other gases. If a speices need a gas to breathe, then that species needs an atmosphere. Also, an atmosphere protects from meteors and cosmic rays. If a species can not handle meteors and cosmic rays, then it needs an atmosphere. If a species needs to fly, then it needs an atmosphere to fly in.

    ReplyDelete
  77. An atmosphere is important to a species because of th egases that it holds in. If Earth had no atmosphere, then there would be no Oxygen, Nitrogen, or any of the other gases that are neccessary for humans to live. Of another organsim needed to inhale and exhale gas, it would die without an atmosphere. The atmosphere can also help by protecting an organism from harmful sun rays. On Earth, the Ozone Layer blocks UV rays.
So, an atmosphere might be important to a species because certain characterisics of the atmosphere may help a species survive.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Because the atmophere protects us from the radiation in space. So the species can be safe on earth and have oxygen and not die from radiation

    ReplyDelete
  79. so that they do not suffocate and so there is certain weather and liveing conditions..

    ReplyDelete
  80. Because if there is a certain type of substance in the atmosphere that the species can't have they can die.

    ReplyDelete
  81. if it has a thin atmousphere its harder to breatth it just depend on how the speices lives and breaths

    ReplyDelete
  82. An atmosphere is very important for life. For us it protects us from solar radiation, and it gives us air to breath. Like for the wroft alien species, they need a thick atmosphere so that they can float. Also the Akona don't want atmospheres because they like to study the stars. So overall atmospheres can be helpful or harmful to species.

    ReplyDelete
  83. An atmosphere does several beneficial things: It provides gasses that some species need to survive. It also keeps out most harmful radiation from any nearby stars. These reasons are why atmospheres are important to most species.

    ReplyDelete
  84. depends on how the species lives and breaths. Since i live on earth id need oxygen, but if i was a tree, id need carbon dioxide!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. An atmosphere can protect a species from. Without an atmosphere the sky of a planet would be black. An atmosphere is basically a big sheild.

    ReplyDelete
  86. It is important because atmospheres hold everything we need to breath. Without an atmosphere we couldn't breath.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Because without an atmostphere there will be craters because the atmostphere burns up the meteorites. Also and atmostphere keeps the elements around the planet so that they can survive. Also an atmostphere protects the creatures from harmful sun radiation, or any stars radiation.

    ReplyDelete
  88. An atmosphere might be important to a species because in order to breathe they need the gases that are in the atmosphere. The atmosphere is made of a lot of gases and without it there is just open space and not any gases that are essential to the species survival.

    ReplyDelete
  89. An atmosphere might be important to a creature for shelter from radiation. Too much radiation can cause a creature to burn up. Another thing an atmosphere does is protect the planet (and creatures)from meteors, meteoroids, and meteorites.

    ReplyDelete
  90. to protect the spices from the harmful rays of the sun

    ReplyDelete
  91. It might be important because as we know, the atmosphere will protect everyone on the planet from asteroids and meteors.

    ReplyDelete
  92. An Atmosphere is HUGELY important to a species. an atmosphere lets a species breathe as well as protecting it from asteroids and solar winds.

    ReplyDelete
  93. An atmosphere is important to a species that needs it because:
    1. It blocks radiation from its food. (plants)
    2. It blocks radiation from its skin.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The atmosphere helps give the planet the gasses it needs for species to live on and protects species from radiation.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I tthink an atmospere is important to a species becaus ewith out an atmospere some types of species cant breathe.

    ReplyDelete
  96. a atmosphere is important to a species because it protects the species from meteors like a magnetic field protects a species from solar activity. And there is many different ways that the atmosphere can help a species.

    ReplyDelete
  97. the aptmosphere is important because it protects from meteors. It also helps with the findig of planets for alians because most of the gasses of the world are in the aptmosphere

    ReplyDelete
  98. it is important because it would keep the type of air they need to breath in.

    ReplyDelete
  99. The atmosphere is important becuase it protects the aleins and us from meteors. And the magnetic feild protects it from solar activity. And if there is none it cannot breath

    ReplyDelete
  100. some of the species need atomasphere to live and som,e float so they need the atmoassphere

    ReplyDelete
  101. so if an alein needs to breath some of the elments in the atmoshere

    ReplyDelete
  102. Because the clouds and the air is the atmosphere.
And there many different ways that the atmosphere can help a species.

    ReplyDelete
  103. The atmosphere is important because it keeps us breathing. It also protects us from meteors, space junk it also contais some elements that we use.thats wy our atmospere is so important.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Because without an atmoshere some species cannot breathe. Also, the atmoshere protects us from the harmful rays of the sun.

    ReplyDelete
  105. An atmosphere provides protection from space objects. Without it, Asteroids would expirience no entry resistance and impact easier. It also provide some protection from the stellar radiation emmitted by the star.

    ReplyDelete
  106. The atmosphere could not have the elements they need pr it could not have a magnetic field.

    ReplyDelete
  107. The atmosphere is important because it holds gasses that the aliens might need to breath. It also can contain gasses that are deadly that the aliens want to stay away from. Also the atmosphere protects us from the sun's harmful rays.

    ReplyDelete
  108. atmophher is realy inportent because it is the sky and we need it to breath and exhel inhel it is our world around us and we might die without
    it.

    ReplyDelete
  109. It helps becauese 1) you cant breath without the atmosphere and they or wewill die because of it.2)The atmosphere can protect us from the suns rays and blocks radation.

    ReplyDelete
  110. it can help protect from solar winds and meators and keep in certian elements needed for life

    ReplyDelete
  111. An atmosphere is important to species because it protects us from the sun, metors, helps us breath Etc...

    ReplyDelete
  112. An atmosphere for us is VERY important it is what makes Earth possible to live on. The first reason is it provides oxygen which many species need. Two it protects us from meteors that would hit the Earth without it. Last it protects us from the Sun's rays and radiation.

    ReplyDelete
  113. A species might need an atmosphere to help it survive by protecting it by radiation from a star, meteors, or maybe by giving it or holding in the gases it needs to survive. Also it may keep for us on Earth H2O from evaporating at a larger rate.

    ReplyDelete
  114. The atmosphere does a lot for life. for example it gives us oxygen. It also protects us from meteoroids and asteroids. It can also block the sun's radiation which can be really harmful to humans skin.

    ReplyDelete
  115. An atmpsoere is VERY important because it protects us. for example it blocks us from radiation from the sun and protects us from things like asteroids.

    ReplyDelete
  116. protects them from radiation

    ReplyDelete
